Here's some recipes that I know your dog will love!

        FROZEN TREATS

        - 1 carton plain lowfat yogurt (the BIG one)
        - 2 bananas smooshed up, or 2 big jars of baby bananas
        - 2 TBSP Peanut Butter
and you can add 1 TBSP honey.

For variety, add blueberries, parsley or anything that your dog loves!

        SOY BISCUITS

Mix one package of soy flour, two cups of whole wheat flour and water.

Make a large ball, I kneed it, cut it in pieces, give them some shape, and bake them till they are hard and dry.

You can sweeten them with barley malt, or sucanat, or honey, or molasses; and/or add other grains, seeds, or nuts.

        SATIN BALLS

        - 10 lb. hamburger meat
        - 1 jar wheat germ
        - 1 lg box of oatmeal (uncooked)
        - 1/4 Cup vegetable oil
        - 10 eggs
        - 10 sm pkgs unflavored gelatin
        - 1/4 Cup unflavored molasses
        - A pinch of salt
        - 1 lg box Total cereal (2 lbs)
(You may also add a pinch of garlic powder to add flavor)
        -

Mix all ingredients together well, much like a meatloaf....put into separate freezer bags and freeze, thawing out as needed. It puts weight on in a very short time, not to mention the gloss in their coat. You can use it every day when they have a show to do and it does not produce diarrhea. It can be fed alone or with kibble.

Here's Dr. Billinghursts' recipe for RAW patties for dogs
(He devised these patties when one of his own dogs would not eat vegetables.)
They are based on raw crushed vegetables (he recommends strongly that you use a juicer to crush veggies). The vegetable content should be at least half of the total.

E.g. One kilo - vegetables - such as carrots, celery, spinach, broccoli, etc.

The other half consists of 1 kilo lean, raw, chopped meat such as - beef, chicken, lamb, (pork).

To which he adds such things as:
        - yoghurt - low fat and plain - half a small tub
        - eggs - raw preferably free range - about 3
        - flax seed oil - 2 or 3 dessert spoons
        - liver - raw
        - garlic - 2 or 3 cloves
        - kelp powder - up to 4 teaspoons
        - B vitamins - a teaspoon of Troy Vite B (Troy Vite B is a B complex Vitamin powder available in Australia)

PLUS OTHER HEALTHY FOOD SCRAPS - e.g. small amounts of cooked veggies, rice, cottage cheese, etc.

In Dr. Billinghurst's book - Give Your dog A Bone - he suggests a "milk feed". He specificies using cow's milk to which you add some water, a whole egg and some honey.

        The Pat McKay
Do-It-Yourself Homemade Cat & Dog Basic Recipe

(Yields approximately 1 cup of food)

        - 6 ounces (3/4 cup) RAW, coarse-ground meat
        - 2 ounces (1/4 cup) RAW, ground, mixed vegetables
        - 2 ounces (1/4 cup) purified water

Yields approximately 3 cups of food:

        - 1 pound (2 cups) RAW, coarse-ground meat
        - 1/4 pound (1/2 cup) RAW, ground, mixed vegetables
        - 1/2 to 1 cup purified water

        ESSENTIAL SUPPLEMENTS

        - AnimaLife -- 1/8 teaspoon per 10 pounds of body weight per day
        - Calcium+Plus -- 1/4 teaspoon per 10 pounds of body weight per day
        - Aloe Concentrate -- 1 tablespoon per cup of food

The Aloe Concentrate may be added to the food at the time of preparation. The AnimaLife and the Calcium+Plus are to be added at the time of feeding. If your animal weighs less than 10 pounds, s/he still receives the entire 1/8 tsp of AnimaLife and the 1/4 tsp of Calcium+Plus. If you can afford only one of the supplements it MUST be the Calcium+Plus. Raw meat is very high in phosphorus and must have a balance of calcium and magnesium to be absorbed and utilized by the body.

        MEATS

A variety of meats, poultry and fish (organic is better) should be rotated: Beef, Chicken, Lamb, Turkey, and their organ meats. Ground meat mixes better with the vegetables. Chunks of meat are great; however, that works only if your animal will eat the vegetables as well. Too often, they eat the meat and pick out the vegetables.

        TO PREPARE YOUR OWN VEGETABLES

Any and all of the following vegetables can be used. The more veggies you combine in one meal the better. The boldfaced vegetables should be used on a daily basis. The others can be given when in season or fed occasionally. Asparagus, Broccoli, Brussels Sprouts, Cabbage, Carrots, Cauliflower, Celery, Corn, Green Beans, Greens (at least one of the following per day: Dandelion, Kale, Swiss Chard, Parsley), Kohlrabi, Okra, Parsnips, Peas, Pumpkin, Sprouts, (Alfalfa, Bean, Sunflower), Squash (Winter and Summer), Sweet Potatoes, Turnips, Rutabagas.

All vegetables must be put through a food processor or blender to be broken down to the size of salt. Dogs and cats do not digest large chunks of vegetables easily.

Mix ground meat and vegetables thoroughly. Add additional purified water, if necessary, until the consistency is that of thick, thick chili. Add supplements and feed.
