Beautiful People
The most beautiful people I have known are those who have known defeat, known suffering, known struggle, known loss, and have found their way out of the depths. These people have an appreciation, a sensitivity, and an understanding of life that fills them with compassion, gentleness, and a deep, loving concern.
Beautiful people do not just happen!
I have fallen

and my spirit is broken.
My will to live is weak.
Bones are shattered,
flesh is torn, my spine
is twisted as a mountain road
and teeth have fallen out of my jaw.
The pain is unbearable.
There's no point in staying alive.
I want to die.

why am I still suffering?
All the parts of my body

Attitude
The longer I live,
the more I realize the impact
of attitude on life. Attitude,
to me, is more important than facts.
It is more important than the past,
than education, than money, than circumstances,
than failures, than successes, than what other people
think or say or do. It is more important than appearance,
giftedness, or skill. It will make or break a company, a church, a home.
The remarkable thing is that we have a choice every day regarding the attitude
we will embrace for that day. We cannot change our past...we cannot change
the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the
inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the one string
we have, and that is our attitude. I'm convinced that
life is ten percent what happens to me and ninety
percent how I react to it. And so it is with you...
we are in charge of our attitude.
